Thai Agri. Minister to share record in combating illegal fishing

FAO and the European Commission have invited the Thai Agricultural Minister, Dr. Chalermchai Sreeon, to deliver a speech and participate in the High-Level Event on the Agreement on

Port State Measures (PSMA) and the Fight Against IUU Fishing meeting, which will be held on 31st May – 5th June 2021. In this event, the Thai Agricultural Minister will be addressing his testimonial statement as well as taking part in the panel discussion.

Since The European Union (EU) issued a final warning, a so-called “yellow card”, to Thailand in April 2015 for its sluggish attempts to improve measures to combat illegal fishing.

The EU eventually dropped the yellow-card status in 2019 after finding the country had aligned its legal and administrative systems with its international obligations to fight IUU fishing.
