Mexico is to import crickets from Thailand, after farmers and officials there struck a deal to generate revenue and elevate local dishes to global standards.
The Mexican authorities officially allowed the importation of the house cricket (acheta domesticus) in powdered, provided the insects were raised on farms which had passed Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards, were free from any protein contaminated by ruminants and had Health Certificates for export.
